I was watching Xiaxue's guide to cooking live crabs or something like that. First, they used the traditional method of killing the crabs which was to poke a chopstick through their head/ ass. Whichever. Then the second method was to chop the crab in half.
The last time I saw Ana chop the crabs in half, I screamed. Cos it was like, wriggling wriggling wriggling, then *CHOP* and it's lifeless. Dead just like that. Kinda-no, make that VERY- disturbing. Then I saw Xiaxue's video and I realised that Ana's method is way less painful for the crabs- and for my eyes.
Xiaxue was like trying her best to chop it in half but maybe cos she didn't use enough strength so it was just sort of 1/3 chopped. And it was STILL squirming-OUCH.
Oh fuck fuck fuck. I was covering my eyes and telling Fiona : Ohmygod, ohmygod, ohmygod. It's like, if you're the crab right, someone just chopped you 1/3 and you're still alive leh ! Painful can ?! Painful doesn't even describe it. ohmygod. If that's the way all the chefs kill crabs...

Oh yeah! I remember the other time i went with my family to eat at some live seafood restaurant, my dad told me to pick out a fish. And suddenly this immense guilt came over me. Cos I was like sort of sending the fish to it's death. Im not trying to be like " oh you can't eat meat cos you're killing animals or whatever" cos I love my meat, thank you very much.
But it's still disturbing !! Cos it was swimming happily in the tank and 20 mins later it's fried or steamed or baked. Whatever. And for the whole of the meal, I couldn't bear to look at it's eyes.

I would go on about the live prawns which are thrown into the boiling hot soup and then jump out due to the pain but are already half red(cooked), or the frogs who are skinned alive to make frog porridge or the SHARKS which have their fins sliced off and thrown back into the sea to await the horrible death of having more sharks bite pieces out of them but I'm guessing that girlfriends are gonna scream in exasperation. So I shan't go on anymore. Hahahahahahaha!
