Arrived in Colombo at 4am to a huge storm. Checked in and promptly fell asleep. Jet lag (although it's only a 2 hour difference) is a bitch.
We spent the first day mostly taking in the sights.
Their temples are so beautiful and the carvings are so intricate.
Dad went for some business thingy the next day so Fiona and I checked out the MAS garment factory with Aunt Nimi's secretary. Back to the hotel then dinner with Dad.
Aunt Nimi & Nikita came to pick us up for lunch. :)
Salads everyday too. Healthy living ... if not for the fact that they are accompanied by really heavy main dishes. I'm not complaining. Okay maybe I am. :/
Checked out the next day, hopped onto Ruvinda's car and we were off to the mountains!
The way they serve scrambled eggs in Sri Lanka is so cute. In a mound on top of a piece of toast.

You will never see elephants trundling down the streets in Singapore. Or huge dollops of elephant poo
Pretty nervous here cos the elephants were sort of nudging me until the keeper commanded them to stay still. The keeper told me to turn around to take a photo and I was like 'whaaaat. I'm not taking my eyes off them.'
Wuss.

Reached the Mackwoods tea factory at the Labookellie estates. Took a tour around the factory.
Having tea at the Tea Centre after a warm welcome from the manager, Mr Dulip. I don't really know how to spell his name. I'm just assuming.
Then to the resort (which Uncle Nissanka & Aunt Nimi kindly invited us to stay for the night) which was just next to the tea factory!
I love this place. I could stay there forever.

Had a game of pool with Ruvinda ( he trashed me. D: ) & it was dinner time.
One thing I do not like about the entire trip? As mentioned above, I was stuffed with food. (Glorious glorious food, anyhow.) Hahahaha. They served us 4-5 courses for almost every single meal. Don't get me started on the buffets. Our meals were provided at the beach resort and were all buffet style. I never want to see a buffet spread for the next 5 months.
Dawn. Fiona & I woke up at 5.30 to catch the sunrise but we realised that it was obstructed by another mountain. == It's still really nice to be up at dawn in the mountains with the chilly, refreshing air.
The chef was up early as well and immediately asked if we wanted coffee or tea when he saw us. Impeccable service. And very heartwarming.

Lovely Race Course road with the meadows and horses. Dad says he'd like to retire here. I would love to as well.
The road up from Kandy to the Tea Country was quite smooth but we took a different route down and let's just say I never want to go through that again.

After a 7 hour drive with a maniac driver aka Ruvinda (Hahahaha I kid), we got to the Taprospa Resorts and Spas!
The resort is by the beach. I love the beaaachhhhhh~
Vesak Day procession. Apparently, Vesak Day is huge there. They have processions with elephants, dancers, monks and free food & drinks are given out along the streets.
